Services for adults include:ï Emergency Services ñ Provides immediate assessment, crisis intervention counseling, referrals, and admission. The suicide prevention hotline is available 24-hours a day. (Pinellas Park)ï Crisis Stabilization ñ Provides brief, intensive services for adults in crisis that include diagnoses, medication, and health education as well as individual and group therapies, recreation activities and discharge planning. (Pinellas Park)ï In patient crisis stabilization for mental health situations up to 3 days for Baker Acted people. If not a Baker Act client, stay is decided by doctor. Services for children include:ï Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Program (CAPP) is a part of a statewide initiative called SIPP (Statewide Inpatient Psychiatric Program) , developed to provide inpatient services for Medicaid eligible children of all ages. The services are inpatient, intensive, and short term and designed for children with serious psychiatric symptoms. Children must meet specific eligibility and admission criteria.ï The Children's Center is an emergency shelter for children experiencing placement disruptions or removal from the care of their parent(s) or other caregiver. The shelter provides a time-limited, safe, structured environment until a more permanent placement is arranged. All placements must be authorized by the community-based care provider.ï Childrenís Continuum of Care ñ Provides intensive residential treatment, therapeutic group care, case management, and in-home counseling for youth referred by the Department of Children & Families (DC&F) and other sources. These services are located in Largo at 1614 Palm Way.ï Emergency Response Team (ERT) ñ Provides crisis intervention for children and families at risk for abuse or neglect occurring in the home. The risk must be related to the presence of domestic violence, mental health and/or substance abuse crisis. The program is provided in partnership with Family Continuity Programs, Suncoast Center, the Haven, and CASA. ï Post Detention Coordination Services Program (PDCS) ñ This program is offered to 1st time detainees, ages 14 and younger. Older youth will be considered on a case by case basis. This one-of-a-kind, innovative program assists children in avoiding a return to the Juvenile Detention Center by providing them with resources to develop the healthy skills necessary to refrain from participation in future illegal activities.ï Screening and Stabilization (CSSU) ñ Provides brief, intensive intervention through inpatient care to children in crisis.ï Therapeutic Foster Care ñ Provides foster homes for children with special needs. Family support group and 24-hour on-call services.Community-based programs include preservation and reunification services, therapeutic foster care, crisis intervention for children & families at risk for abuse or neglect due to domestic violence; crisis intervention and brief therapy for elementary school aged youth and their families; intensive conditional release services for youth discharged from juvenile justice programs; and Family Emergency Treatment Center (FETC).PEMHS now administers 21 programs; 11 are in-patient and 10 are community-based. Programs are located at 7 locations in 3 Florida counties. The agency bed count is now at 185.
