January 2024 Toolkit: Make your mental health a priority this year

By December 21, 2023January 2nd, 2024No Comments

Considering giving some extra love to your mental well-being this year? Explore these fantastic strategies to boost your mindset!

Surround yourself with good people. Various studies found that social connections, love, and intimacy are the factors that mainly contribute to happiness and personal satisfaction. Here are a few other ways to help you build healthy and positive relationships.

Practice positive self-talk. Positive thinking helps with stress management and can even improve your health. Practice overcoming negative self-talk with these examples.

Learn another language.  Becoming bilingual – or even trilingual – not only can enrich your life but it can improve your mental health, too. Working your brain can boost confidence, improve listening skills, and sometimes fight off depression.

Read and learn new things. A 2009 study at the University of Sussex found that reading can reduce stress by up to 68%. It works better and faster than other relaxation methods, such as listening to music or drinking a hot cup of tea. This is because your mind is invited into a literary world that is free from the stressors that plague your daily life. Here are some tips to help you get started.

Find what makes you unique. Your self-image can also fuel recognition of your own worth. You aren’t perfect (who is?), but you still have great value. Self-knowledge makes it easier to accept your entire self, both the traits you’re proud of and those you’d like to improve.
