Cancer support groups are designed to benefit people living with cancer: patients, family members, caregivers, and close friends. Support groups provide an opportunity to share personal stories, gain practical information, and receive emotional support from others in similar circumstances. Group meetings are led by professionally trained staff who ensure that certain ground rules are followed (for example, maintaining confidentiality). Meetings take place weekly, monthly, or periodically, and last from 1 to 2 hours, depending on the particular group. Unless otherwise indicated, it is not necessary to sign-up for meetings ñ invite you to attend as often as you would like. What follows is a list of the support groups offered at the Center. For more information about these groups including their location, please call.
