This is a 5-to-5 breath technique to bring us into balance. In order to achieve this we have an equal inhale to exhale. This helps us bring harmony to our hearts, mind and body. We as busy humans typically breathe 12 – 20 breaths per minute. This technique is aimed at 5 breaths per minute but you may need to start and work your way to 5.
Practice: shake your hands and arms, releasing any tension. Take 3 long breaths through the nose and out the mouth. Using your pointer finger on one hand, guide the finger up one finger for your inhale and then back down the other side for your exhale. Making your way from your thumb to your pinky. Eventually these five rounds of breath will equal one minute.
Bring into our awareness some expectations that may be looming – connect with how it feels in the body. Do you feel some heaviness or perhaps some excitement? With a big exhale, let them go.
Are you able to stay here for a moment and feel that we are enough just as we are, right here right now?
You are here – if you are engaging in this practice, then you are trying and all trying is good trying. Showing up is ‘it’ and ‘it’ is enough.
