Breathwork: Body scan to hear what our bodies are telling us

By December 13, 2021February 17th, 2022No Comments

By taking time to do a quick body scan we can heighten our awareness of sensations in the body as well as build trust and listen to what the body is telling us. Note, if you’re a person who has experienced trauma related to your body or have a challenging time being in your body please go gently and with caution.

Start in a comfortable position and close your eyes (keeping them open is fine too!) and take one deep and cleansing breath.

Imagine yourself outside with a ray of sunshine shining on the top of your head. Embracing that warm safe energy moving it from your head to your toes with attention to your different body parts. When finished, sit and feel into the warm bubble you created for yourself. Take note of any sensations or messages from the body – careful not to judge yourself but just take note of how to care for yourself later.

To complete the practice roll the shoulders up and back – opening your heart to the sky and bring a smile to your face. Thank yourself for taking time to listen to your body today.
